I’m starting an SLP private practice.
Talk about terrifying! Or is it exciting? Mostly overwhelming. It is probably all three… and a few other emotions as well.
I’m fresh out of my clinical fellowship (which I completed during the global pandemic), and I’m ready to forge ahead with this new adventure.
Why start my own practice?
I have always been drawn to entrepreneurship.
From blogging here at ThinkSLP, to selling original therapy resources, to publishing my grad school admissions book: SLP To Be – I enjoy new challenges. To me, they’re opportunities to learn new skills and pursue other interests.
Also, I crave the autonomy that running a business can bring. Not just in the clinical aspects (because I’ve always worked well with and learned so much from other clinicians) but in everything else – like making sure I’m living my values in how I provide services and treat others.
My To-Do List for Staring an SLP Private Practice
I know that starting and running my own practice isn’t going to be easy, but to help me get started (and to help you if you’re thinking of doing the same!) I’m creating a to-do list.
